As a new Dead Island game approaches, let’s take a moment to revisit the original release. Dead Island is a first-person, open-world, action role-playing game that pits players against a horde of zombies. It was first released for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on September 6, 2011, followed by OS X on April 28, 2014, Linux on October 24, 2014, and PS4 and Xbox One on May 31, 2016.

Dead Island follows the story of four playable survivors named Sam B, Xian Mei, Logan Carter, and Purna Jackson, who must navigate the fictional island of Banoi in order to survive and escape. The open world is divided into large areas that offer plenty of opportunities for exploration, with a wide variety of main and side quests to undertake. Clearing quests in one area often opens up access to others. Combat, exploration, and quests are all essential elements of Dead Island, with a range of physical attacks, melee weapons, and firearms available for players to use against the zombie hordes. Weapons can be upgraded, but they also wear out and require repairs to continue being effective.

In addition to the combat mechanics, Dead Island also features a leveling system, with players able to upgrade their stats and skill trees. Completing quests and killing enemies grants experience points, and with each level up, players gain additional health and the ability to invest a skill point in their chosen skill tree. Players must also manage their stamina bar, as overexertion can leave them tired and vulnerable to attack. In addition to regular zombies, the game also features special class zombies that are stronger and have unique abilities.

Dead Island is a fantastic zombie survival game that stands out from the crowded market with its unique twists and gameplay mechanics.
