R.B.I. Baseball 93 is the second baseball game released on the Genesis, and first to feature an MLBPA license for professional players. While there isn't a Major League Baseball affiliation for authentic teams and logos, each club is identified by city name. The game not only includes all 26 clubs from the 1990 season (plus two All-Star squads), but also every division winner from 1983-89, bringing the total number of teams to 56.
The default view is fixed high above the catcher and batting involves timing the pitch as it crosses the plate. Pitches can also be "guided" once released, and after the ball is hit, the perspective changes to a bird's eye view of the field. Three game modes include 1P Play, 2P Play and Watch, where you can let the computer play itself for nine innings. While there is no season play offered, the goal in R.B.I. Baseball 3 is to defeat all of the teams before moving to the playoffs. Progress can be continued via passwords.
