Each Duck Hunt level offers not just one duck but ten target birds for gamers to shoot at with one or two appearing in the sky on-screen at a time. Nintendo gives you three chances to clear each level, and you advance by achieving a certain number of hits. The higher the level, the faster the birds will appear and move across the screen. Be on the lookout and concentrate to get them all. If you don't reach the number of shots necessary to go on to the next level, you'll be able to simply start over. When a gamer pulls the trigger, the screen will flash, and it's soon apparent whether you will get credit for the kill or not. You don't have to have perfect accuracy. A shot in the right direction should do the trick. You'll get points for every bird you knock out of the sky. If you make your shots fast, you have an increased chance of getting enough to go to the next level. Also, if you manage to get all waterfowl or pigeons in a round, you'll be rewarded with bonus points. Different Duck Hunt modes let you choose between ducks and clay pigeons. Additionally, the two-player version adds a level of shooting gaming competition by letting the other player control the ducks in flight. When you're playing against an opponent, the NES will keep track of both scores for you during your session. The game begins at Level 1 and ends at Level 99. If you make it past Level 99, you'll be promoted to Level 0. In this bonus level, the birds are sporadic and gameplay can be unpredictable. When the last level is over, you've conquered the entire game. You don't have to make it all the way to the Level 0 to take part in a bonus round, though. After every two levels, players get a chance to bag some birds jumping out of tall grass. The catch is that the hunter's dog likes to play in the tall grass as well. Every once in a while, the dog will pop up instead of your intended target. If you shoot the dog instead of a duck, the bonus round will end. This retro shooter game will provide hours of big fun to whoever plays it. Those who played Duck Hunt when it was first released and those who are new to playing Duck Hunt will be able to enjoy it for hours on end.
